Kelly Russell

Dr Russell received a Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences) and Master of Science (Epidemiology) from the University of Alberta. She then completed a Doctorate of Philosophy in Sport Injury Epidemiology from the University of Calgary, followed by a fellowship in traumatic brain injuries in sport at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. In 2012, she was recruited to the University of Manitoba as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health and Research Scientist with the Manitoba Institute of Child Health. She has received numerous grants to study students’ return to school after a sport-related concussion, risk factors for skateboard park injuries, effectiveness of Manitoba’s bicycle helmet and booster seat legislation, and high-risk behaviors among skiing and snowboarding youth.
